Meet brenda kent
BSc Kinesiology,
Master of Public Health
CERTIFIED PERSONAL TRAINER
A pursuit of passion
Brenda has a lifelong passion for women’s health, especially reproductive health and physical activity. This passion led her to earn degrees in Kinesiology and Public Health, and to spend many years working in health promotion and advocating for healthy public policy. In her volunteer time, she is a track and field coach with a focus on jumps and power.
Active throughout her life in sports, outdoor adventures, and fitness, she started struggling with her own menopause transition in her early 40s. Hot flushes, insomnia, brain fog and anxiety were the new norm along with strength loss and weight gain. She found herself wondering: Where did my muscles go?
Over several years, while experiencing the added challenges of parenting teens, caring for elderly relatives, and living through the pandemic, Brenda connected with the right care provider who set her on a new path of research and discovery, seeking better ways to stay active and strong through midlife. She applied what she learned, hired a personal trainer, and was thrilled to see her strength, power and confidence grow.
Now in her early 50s, Brenda is stronger than she has been in decades. She feels more mobile, agile, and capable in her daily life, whether it’s hiking, coaching track and field, lifting heavy bags of chicken feed, or splitting wood for winter. Her goal was never to “go back to her 20s,” but instead to feel strong and powerful in this next phase of life.
Brenda feels a deep desire to help others who are struggling to find a path forward. Her personal experience combined with a science background and deep commitment to women’s health inspired her career shift to become a personal trainer.
Brenda is grateful to live and work on the unceded and traditional territory of the Quw’utsun Peoples, with her family, dogs, cats, and chickens.
